The ideal age for starting orthodontic treatment is between ages 8 to 14 years while growth is still occurring. Teeth can be moved using removable appliances or fixed braces. Crowding can require the extraction of teeth. Retainers may be necessary long after dental braces are placed, especially with orthodontic treatment of adults.

This series of clear aligners, each worn for a couple of weeks, incrementally moves the teeth into place until the final desired corrections are reached.
